IEE – Institute for European Studies

The Institute of European Studies, Free University of Brussels – European University has maintained since its inception in 1963, as a key player in the four areas of research, education, the European public debate and international relations, which earned him to be consecrated as European center of excellence Jean Monnet. In 2008-2009, he hosted some 280 students, but in nearly fifty years, over 4000 people there he graduates.

The city of Brussels is the capital of a federal state which has been at the heart of Europe since 1957. It naturally follows that the city should have a university in keeping with its standing and ULB, with its 24,000 students, 29% of whom come from abroad, and its very cosmopolitan body of staff, is an intrinsically international institution open to both Europe and to the whole world.

ECLAN – European Criminal Law Academic Network

The Network ECLAN is a result of a project led from December 2004 to December 2005 by the Institute for European Studies (Université Libre de Bruxelles) with the financing of the European Commission (AGIS programme) and the Luxembourg’s EU Presidency. The first meeting of the contact points of ECLAN took place in Brussels on 24 February 2005.
